The Virgin Mary or Mary the Mother of God is the Mother of Jesus Christ[1] and Mother of the Catholic Church.[2] But she was not a prostitute,[3][4] nor a member of any Jewish group or sect, such as the Essenes.[5][6] Neither was she a goddess or anything but a human person.[7][8]
