Worship is primarily the adoration and love of God,[1] which is the moral life,[2] inscribed into human nature,[3] and indeed, is the purpose of the world,[4] of the Catholic Church,[5] and of the sacraments.[6] Worship is secondly veneration and love of God's holy creatures and creations,[7] out of love of God,[8] according to the Scriptures[9] and to the Incarnation.[10] Hence the Church worships (adores) the Eucharist[11] and worships (venerates) the Scriptures,[12] the angels and the saints,[13] the relics of Jesus Christ and the relics of the saints,[14] holy images and statues,[15] etc.
